The Manual

If someone creates something, they usually provide instructions.

When you buy a piece of equipment, it comes with a manual. When you download new software, there are guidelines explaining how it works. The person who designed it knows how it is supposed to function, so they leave instructions to help others use it correctly.

Life is no different.

God didn’t just create the world and then leave us to figure everything out on our own. He gave us His Word.

The Bible is not just a religious book. It is the record of God revealing His wisdom, His design, and His guidance for how life works best.

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
— 2 Timothy 3:16

Notice that word: instruction.

Scripture teaches us what is true, corrects us when we go off course, and guides us back toward the life God intended.

King David described it this way:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
— Psalm 119:105

A lamp doesn’t show everything all at once. It gives enough light for the next step.

That’s what the Word of God does.

It helps us see clearly enough to walk forward.

God’s instructions were never meant to make life harder. They were given so life could function the way it was designed to function.

But over time, people drifted away from that design. Traditions grew. Interpretations multiplied. The simple instructions became surrounded by layers of complication.

And when that happens, it becomes harder to see the original design clearly.

So God did something remarkable.

He didn’t just leave us with written instructions.

He sent someone to show us what those instructions look like when they are lived out.

And that brings us to the next part of the story.
